about

On Tuesday Dec 12th, 2023, Glen was coming over to discuss and mix the new album we are working on (10 new songs soon!), and I called him before he left... this is roughly how that conversation went:

"Hello Lovey Dovey"
"Hello Lovey Dovey"
"Have you left yet?"
"Nope"
"Bring your acoustic guitar."
"Why?"
"We're going to write a Christmas song!"
"Nope, that's a terrible idea!"
"It's a great idea!"
"No, it's a horrible idea!"
"Wait a second, I have the first four lines."
(insert me singing them to Glen)
"This is a terrible idea, should I bring the Gibson?"
"Yes!"

Thus starts (possibly) a new yearly tradition?

lyrics

On the way to Christmas.
The car had broken down.
Would the family miss us?
Those from out of town.
The repairs cost a fortune.
No money left for gifts.
I guess there's always next year.
That's what we'll tell the kids.
The phones were out of order.
The coffee had gone cold.
The waitress said she'd top us off.
Before we hit the road

And though the storm is fast approaching.
(And though the storm is now upon us)
(And now the storm is far behind us)
We're gonna jingle all the way.
We'll make it there by morning.
In time for Christmas day.

Roads are getting slippery.
The traffic's slowing down.
One way or another.
Gotta make it into town.
Christmas lights are blinkin'.
There's magic in the air.
And everybody's wonderin'.
If we'll make it there.

On the way to Christmas.
Made it safe and sound.
It's good to see the family.
Those from out of town.
